The Executive Board makes the majority of decisions, within the budgets and policy framework set by Council, except on matters such as Planning and Licensing, which are dealt with by committees established by Council for such purposes.  The Executive Board consists of 8 Councillors and the Chairman is the Leader of the Council, Councillor Craig Leyland.

The Deputy Leader of the Council is Councillor Graham Marsh, Portfolio Holder for Partnerships.
