Information about Rural Services Network
Mission Statement:
The Rural Services Network is a membership organisation that exists as the national champion for rural services.
We campaign on behalf of our membership for fair funding for rural areas recognising the additional costs of delivering services to rural communities and the unfair settlement for rural councils from Government. We are a Special Interest Group of the LGA.
This year we have also supported the work of the Internal Drainage Board SIG recognising the unfair burden on some councils of the Special Levy.
We work to share best practice and network across our wide membership which includes over 85 rural local authorities and over 200 rural service providers including housing associations, health trusts and national bodies.
We provide our members with a range of services and opportunities for networking, including a free National Rural Conference each year that Members and Officers are able to attend, along with a lively seminar programme throughout the year on key topics for rural areas including, affordable housing, rural economy, rural connectivity and net zero. The seminars are open to Officers and Members across the authority, not just the representative.
