Information about Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service
Mission Statement:
The Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service (LWCS) is a jointly funded partnership between DEFRA, East Lindsey District Council, West Lindsey District Council, North East Lincolnshire Council and Lincolnshire County Council. LWCS works with its partners to help produce, promote, implement and review the five-yearly Lincolnshire Wolds Management Plan, which is a statutory requirement of local authorities. The primary purpose of AONB designation (dating from 1973) is to conserve and enhance the landscapes natural beauty; there is an additional duty of regard for local authorities to undertake this work which was further strengthened on 26th December 2023.
On behalf of the Partnership, the LWCS provides further guidance to planning services; runs a dedicated grants scheme for local businesses, communities and individuals; produces many walk and cycling leaflets; advise landowners/farmers/public on issues relating to the protected landscape sits on partnership groups such as the Greater Lincolnshire Nature Partnership; hosts the Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project; and promotes the special qualities of the area to the wider public via talks and events etc.
