Age UK Lindsey
Description
Mission Statement
Age UK Lindsey is an established and well respected local independent charity, which has been based in Horncastle, Lincolnshire for over 30 years. We are a Brand Partner of the national Age UK charity and provide services in the Lincolnshire district council areas of East and West Lindsey and also North Lincolnshire, which takes in coastal and rural areas such as Skegness, Mablethorpe, Spilsby, Horncastle, Woodhall Spa and Louth in the East Lindsey district. It is a geographically large and mainly rural area with some key urban settlements and has above the national average levels of older people.
The Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers work together to deliver services which will benefit older people and their families, with a main aim of helping to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. The Board of Age UK Lindsey has 65% of the Trustees over the age of 60 years of age, with lived experience of being an older person.
We offer a wide range of support to older people and their families including a free Information and Advice Service; last year supporting older people in our area to claim over £2.5m of unclaimed welfare benefits via home visits, telephone and digital means. We also offer a Befriending Service supporting isolated and lonely older people by home visits, telephone and digital and we also offer a number of social activity groups across East Lindsey.
We have developed a Mobile Outreach project and have been delivering in isolated communities along the east coast and in rural areas, targeting hard to reach and socially isolated older people by delivering Information and Advice, as well as helping to connect them with both interactive and face to face social gatherings, wellbeing information and stimulating activities whilst improving their digital skills.
The Board of Trustees meet every two months (6 meetings per year including the AGM) and also we have sub groups that people can join depending on their interests, also held every two months.
Most meetings take place at Horncastle Community Centre, Manor House Street, Horncastle but occasionally held at Wilkin Chapman Solicitors Office, Oxley House, Lincoln Way, Louth, Lincolnshire, LN11 0LS.
